Description

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC-CABARETE

General introduction of Dominican Republic-Cabarete:

Once upon a time, there was a small and quite village on the north Coast of Dominican Republic. Few years later, the island’s status was about to change as it was discovered by windsurfers. This place is supposed to be one of the best destinations for windsurfing or kite surfing. This is because of the strong, consistent wind in the area. That is also why a lot of world competitions were held in Cabarete. As more and more visitors starting going there for their vacations, Cabarete had no other choice but to develop itself to a tourist destination offering all types of entertainment to the visitors. Nice bars and restaurants as well as a great variety of hotels and apartments could not be missing.
Apart from water sports, at Cabarete, you can go diving, mountain biking, horse riding or canyoning. In case you are not so sportive, you will be also rewarded for your choice by nice beaches , the sun that gives you the opportunity of lying the whole day. Do you still have any doubt whether if it is the best way to get away from your everyday routine?

5 things to do in Cabarete:

-Even if you are an expert windsurfer or just a beginner that is the ideal destination where you can go and practice. With a wide beach and soft white sand, the coral reef-protected bay has ideal conditions for windsurfing. Windsurfers revel in progressive winds that pick up around noon with waves breaking from three to six feet high and only light currents.  There are also quite a lot windsurfing schools offering lessons.

-It might cost you a bit more than staying in a hotel room, but renting an apartment by the sea is the best you can do in Cabarete. Breathtaking views as well as all the amenities that a luxurious type of accommodation can offer you will be your pay off.

-The Dominican Republic Jazz Festival is a festival full of rhythm, flavour, and colour. You should definitely not miss the opportunity to visit it,if you are planning to go to Cabaret the first week of October.

-The bay of the Cabarete is about two kilometres long. That makes it one of the longest stretches of uninterrupted sand beach in the Dominican Republic. You should definitely go for a walk during the afternoon or early in the morning.

- Although all the areas in Cabarete, are within walking distances, you could try to get a motoconcho to get from one place to another. Motoconcho is just a motorbike with a driver. It is cheap and I consider it as really enjoyable!
