Welcome to London
Welcome to London - The City of Festivals
London, the most visited European city has character and history oozing from every nook and cranny. As cheesy and generic as it may sound London does indeed have something for everyone. Fine shopping and dining in Knightsbridge, iconic cultural epicentres like Portobello Market and Camden town, nightclubs, pubs, sports venues including many premier league football clubs, historical actractions, massive museums, the list goes on and on.
It's easy to see all of London, just book one of the many London tours and go! Alternatively, just get yourself a travelcard and move freely througout the British capital at your own pace. Just one fashion tip, prepare to experience all 4 seasons in one day so pack your fur coat and sun cream!
For unbeatable insight into visiting London on the fly, here is our London profile where you can learn everything you need to know in 2 minutes or less:
Not sure which attraction is for you? Here are our prrofiles:
London dungeon: Good family day out, follow it up with a walk across Tower bridge, 5 minutes away and a lunch along the River Thames!
Big Ben: Go see it but we'll warn you, you may get lost in a sea of tourists. While you're there you may as well visit the houses of parliament and Westminster Abbey
Hyde Park: Pack a picnic and go relax in the sun/rain/snow/fog/whatever beautiful weather mother nature has blessed you with.
St Paul's Cathedral: If architecture is your cup of tea then go. If not, there are a few good pubs nearby!
Harrods: You probabaly won't buy anything but go anyway.
London Activities Profiled:
London Shopping: Although London is famous for the big brand flagship stores on Oxford Street and Regent Street the proper shopping conesciours know that the best London shopping can be found in the smaller shops down the side streets parrallel to the tourist infested Oxford Street. Venture into the boutique shops if it is proper London style and fashion which you seek.
The Nightlife: If you want to meet the London locals you'd best put your beer goggles early as the festivities begin immediately as the working day ends. Wondering where to go? Our advice is to not make a plan, just walk out of your London hotel and stumble into the first pub you find then crawl from pub to pub accordingly. However, if you insist on living the London clubbing experience you'll find the monotonous, defeaning beats at clubs like Fabric or the ministry of sound. For a more bohemian night out, try Koko in Camden town.
London Drinking Habits: Only one sentence you need to learn, "pint of bitter please!" Each pub you stumble or crawl into will most likely have a few different authentic British ales for you to stretch your stomach with.
After a night out: London was built for hangovers, nothing can fix you like a full English breakfast! Luckily, most pubs and cafe's will serve a "fry up" all day long so you can take your sweet time rolling out of bed.
London for free: Although infamously expensive, it is possible to enjoy London without breaking the bank. There are plenty of attractions you can visit for free including the British Museum, Tower Bridge, Big Ben and the houses of Parliament, the changing of the guards etc... If the stereotypical tourist day out isn't for you then we recommend just walking along the bank of the river Thames and stopping as you see fit!
Places to eat: We recommend wandering aimlessly through the West End and stopping when you smell something you like. You haven't got to walk far to find cuisines from all around the world. If you insist on a quintessentially British meal however, hop on a train to Peckham and find a pie and mash shop.
