Saint Emilion- The Red Wine Legacy
The city have been constructed during the prehistoric period. Now the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can find some beautiful Romanesque churches and ruins.
Moreover, the Romans planted vineyards, and during the II century, but it's only during the VIII century that a monk started the commercial production of wine. The town was named Monk Emilion after this period.
Since 1955, Saint-Emilion take the label AOC which is for high quality product and now is one of the principal place for the red wine in Bordeaux.
Saint-Emilion is a city where red wine industry is omnipresent, you could easily find some “Chateau” to visit such as: “Cantenac”, “Coutet” & “Villemaurine”.
Moreover Saint-Emilion is part of UNESCO Wolrd Heritage, you can find some beautiful romans churches such as “L'église Monolithe” located in the center of the town. You can also visit the famous “Tour du Chateau du Roy”.
If you are looking for restaurant, we recommend you the “Lard et Bouchon” where there is a menu for Apero, main dish and desert, it is not too expensive. You can also try the “L”Envers du Décors” which is also a wine bar the ambiance is good and the tables are original.

Most of the shops in Saint-Emilion are related with the wine, it is simple to find some Cave where to buy wine.

The temperature are pretty hot, during the summer the average is 24°C. The winter are not so cold with an average of 6°C. The city is very sunny, the average of rainfall is 78 mm per month.
You can find some local bus from Bordeaux to Saint-Emilion or train. But the city is more easy to reach by car.
