Information & facts
I should begin by saying that the beach is what tourists come here for and there really isn't a lot of culture here. So apart from sunbathing, swimming and lazing around, there are very few other options outside Jesolo. Jesolo is truly close to Venice, so you can even visit this historical city or even move to other important cities of Veneto easily, like Padova, Treviso, Verona or Vicenza.
Jesolo's main traditional food are:
- Sarde in Saor, which is a fried sardina, immersed in onion with oil and vinegar, raisin and pine nut (the tradition wants only the winter to increase 02the calories). It is a very delicious dish to taste like cold platter.
- Poenta e schie, which are a small prawns , grey when uncooked and become grey-brown after having been cooked. They are fried and mixed with the yellow soft polenta. It can be eaten as a good starter or as a delicious main course if served in a big portions.
- Sepe col nero, which are cuttlefish with oil, garlic, parsley, white wine and adding of its ink. It is a main course to taste with white polenta.
In the main road called Via Baffile you will find a lot of boutiques and shops, going from the cheapest to the most expensive prices. Jesolo is even known to be shoppers' heaven.
Enclosed between the Adriatic and the Alps, Jesolo offers a likeable meditteranean climate for its position close to Venice. The climate is warm and temperate in the summer within maximum temperatures can round 30°C, but it is cold and rainy in the winter with the maximum rounding 15°C.
Jesolo can be easily reached from Europe with cheap flights to Venice Marco Polo Airport or Treviso Canova Airport, which are only a few miles away. There's a direct bus service between the airport and Lido di Jesolo, operated by ATVO. Jesolo doesn't have any railway station , the nearest one being in San Dona'. Then you have to take a bus or taxi.
Jesolo has a long history of discos, some of whom are counted among the most famous in Italy. The main discos are: Il muretto, Marina Club, King's and Vanilla Club. Then, there is Acqualandia. It has been voted the best Aquatictheme park in Italy. It is an oasis of entertainment , where you can find attractions for every age group (you can relax or have fun, or even do extreme sports). It include 26 attractions, 7 shows and 4 animation activities.
