Unique amongst the Alpine cities, Trento is the capital of Trentino and a cosmopolitan city.It is a city full of art and history, with an elegant Renaissance style.This is not only a cultural place, but also a perfect location where to practice different kinds of sport.The famous cycling race "Giro D'Oro" was performed here from 1983 to 2009; there is an important swimming-diving society and football, volleyball and basketball teams. In Trento you can also find many athletic societies and around this beautiful city there are many lakes where you can practie water sports or just relax under the sun during the summer.

Trento is perfect to spend a relaxing evening in one of the numerous pubs or wine bars with a group on friends; or to attend a spectacle in the main theatre "Santa Chiara".
The weekly market of Trento takes place every Thursday from 7.15 until 14.00 in the historic center of the city, in the town center you can also find many typical product boutiques.
The city center is small and was once surrounded by high walls connected directly to Buonconsiglio Castle and extended until the Adige, a part of them is still visible in Piazza Fiera. The cathedral of Trento was built around the XII century in Romanesque-Gothic style and in its foundation an ancient basilica is located, whose remains are visible in the underground crypt.
