Tuscany is a region located in central Italy with a population of about 3.8 million inhabitants and area of about 23,000m2. Sometimes, it is called “a nation within a nation”. Tuscany is famous for its beautiful landscapes, history, traditions, production of wine and outstanding cities. The capital city of this region is Florence. Other regional cities are Siena, Pisa, Lucca, Cortona or San Gimignano. It has a deep history and culture. Firstly, it was the home land of Entruscans. They created the first civilization of this region. Roman empire was established here and cities like Lucca, Pisa, Siena and Florence were created. After the fall of the Roman empire, the region was known as Tuscany. Nowadays, it is considered to be the birthplace of the Renaissance. Florence was the city of famous writers and artists as Dante, Macchiavelli, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci or Michalangelo. Tuscany, and mainly its capital city Florence, belongs to the most popular tourist destinations and attracts more tourists every year. There are seven places in Tuscany that have been designed World Heritage sites. In Florence, nobody should miss the historic centre with Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio and amazing view on the Arno River with Ponte Vecchio. Next destinations to visit are definitely Siena with its Medieval town centre and Pisa with its famous Leaning Tower.

If you are in cities like Pisa or Siena, the life in the night is more quite. The best is to take a walk around the cities or sit somewhere for a drink. There is nice and romantic atmosphere with less tourists. You can find more possibilities for nightlife in Florence. There are bars and clubs like Rio Grande, Brazilian spot or H202 that are popular between students from the whole word.
Tuscany is a great destination to choose even for shopping. The best is to go to the largest cities like Florence and Siena. You can find huge shops with brand names and as well as smaller boutiques run by local people or crafts markets. Tuscany is special for hand-crafted products. You can find lots of gifts and souvenirs on these markets. Moreover, it is great to find and taste typical food products on the markets.
Tuscany offers many places that are worthy to see. Florence, as the capital city, has a historical town centre with Piazza della Signoria with the statue of David, Duomo, Pallazo Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery with unique masterpieces. You definitely have to take a walk around Arno river and cross through the Ponte Vecchio – beautiful bridge with lots of small shops. Next city to visit is Siena where you have to walk through the streets of the city centre crossing Piazza del Campo. This square is in the heart of the town and it is the home of horse race every summer. Once you are in Toscany, you have to visit Pisa with the Leaning Tower and all the other monuments in the Piazza del Campo.

The climate of Tuscany is characterized by differences depending on the geography of each area. The coast area is usually hotter in summer than the hills and mountains. The best months to visit Tuscany are April and May as well as October and November. In these months, there are mostly sunny days with some rainy days as well. The warmest months are July and August and the coolest January and February (temperatures are usually around 45°F (7°C)).
The public transport service of the region of Tuscany is managed on a provincial level and each province has a local bus transport company. In Florence, ATAF (Azienda Trasporti Area Fiorentina) buses and electric minibuses (bussini) serves the city. There are other companies serving in each city.
