Welcome to Amstelveen - The city of Stadharts, a lovely shopping centre
Amstelveen is a municipality in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland with an inhabitant of approximately 81.000. It is a suburban part of the metropolitan area of Amsterdam. Amstelveen was formed as a little village in a peat extraction. During the 17th and the 18th century, wealthy people travelled from Amsterdam to Amstelveen looking for a quiet and spacious place to live.
Around 1930, Amstelveen expanded and built several new pleasant neighbourhoods. With these beautiful areas Amstelveen is still a popular place to live for the higher class. From Amstelveen, it is easy to go to Amsterdam centre by public transportation (15 minutes), car or even by bike. KLM Netherlands has its headquarters in Amstelveen. Air France-KLM is represented by the KLM head office. In addition, Amstelveen has the international headquarters of one of the Big Four auditors, KPMG.

Amstelveen has a good 70s, 80s, 90s parties called "Hitfeest" every 3rd Saturday of the month. Entrance 21 and older. This evening is often sold out, so buy your tickets in advance. Besides that, there is also a local braun bar along a countryside road. Most of the people who go there are farmers. There is also Hotel Albina a local spot that absolutely busy, people are having fun, and it is lively. Beers are about a euro and a half. They have jenever, anything you want, great food and waitresses that are just phenomenally good looking.
Amstelveen is well-known for the lovely shopping centre, called the ‘Stadshart‘. In this centre, you will find lots of shops, a big central library, culture activities, restaurants and offices.
As a tourist in Amstelveen the places to visit are: The Cobra Museum of Modern Artis, an art museum in Amstelveen, Netherlands. The collection of the museum consists of key works by artists of the movements. The Museum Jan van der Togt a modern visual art museum by Jan van der Togt, an industrialist and founder of the company Tomado who was a collector of contemporary art and also visit the Bosbaan, a rowing lake situated in the Amsterdamse Bos.

Amstelveen has a temperate maritime climate influenced by the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean, with cool summers and moderate winters. Daytime temperatures varies from 2°C-6°C in the winter and 17°C-20°C in the summer.
From Amstelveen, you can get to Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands by bicycle. Between central Amstelveen and central Amsterdam there are trams, line 5 and a metro service, line 51. From the bus station, you can go to a wide variety of places such as Schiphol, Haarlem, Utrecht, etc.
