Welcome to Benidorm
Welcome to Benidorm - The city of the sun and fiesta
Benidorm is one of the major tourist resorts in Spain, located along the well known Costa Blanca, specifically in the province of Alicante (Valencian community). Famous for its sunny weather, clean sea, white sandy beaches and diverse night-life, it counts with a population census of less than 75,000 habitants but it succesfully allocates an average of 150,000 people during the year, reaching the amount of 400,000 in summer. It was a small village and then it becomes one of the main tourist destinations, not only in summer but also in winter, due to its lovely climate and atmosphere. Therefore, it stands out for its hostel industry in a tourist-orientated economy, you only need to take a look to the numerous skyscrapers to see the city's development. Moreover, Benidorm is a great location for fans of water sports, thanks to the lovely undersea landscapes and clean water. You can also enjoy its white sandy beaches, Poniente beach and Levante beach, although if you want to scape from the busy and crowded spots you can also find some coves only a few km away, with an incredible environment and more privacy.
You can find a wide offer of atmospheres. You could start your night enjoying some typical spanish dishes in one of the many restaurants you will find or if you prefered more international dishes you would have no problem. After that, you could go on with your night having a drink in some local bar or enjoy a cabaret or showbar.
There is a differenciated offer of nigh-life depending mostly on the age of the audience. Normally young people visit Benidorm in summer and enjoy the nightclubs along the beach and the big discos in the north part of the city. The elderly enjoy Benidorm as there is a wide offer of activities for them at that time and its micro-climate will make you feel it is still summer.
In July Benidorm celebrates an Indie Music festival called "Benidorm Low Cost Festival" with both national and international music groups.
You could take a walk by the lanes and apart from discovering the place you will find some shops. Another ideal places to purchase original local products are markets, you will find almost everything there, from basic food to fashion trends, all in a colourful and relaxed atmosphere.
