Ourense, is a beautiful city located in the northwest of Spain, in the province of Galicia. It was founded by Romans almost two thousand years ago, who named it Auriense, which means “The Golden city” because of the large amount of this metal that they found upon their arrival. Nowadays, Ourense has turned into the second city of Europe in quantity of thermal water. The main thermal area, Burgas thermal springs is located at the heart of the city; with a new open-air swimming pool, where locals and tourists can enjoy thermal waters with a gorgeous view of the old city. Besides this, four thermal areas are at visitor’s disposal, free of charge, working as a source of pleasure and relaxation, but also recommended for health purposes.
Ourense's history can be discovered while walking through the narrow streets of the Old city, traveling back in time to the middle ages. Romans legacy is still present in the city, not only in the treasures kept in the museums, but also in the astonishing Old Bridge that crosses the Miño river, offering an amazing view of the new part of the city.
This unique city complements itself with an amazing commercial offer and an exquisite gastronomy characterized by the quality of its raw materials and the denominations of origin of four of the wines produced in the city. There are many commercial areas where you can find the most important and trendy clothes and shoes shops, in pedestrian streets such as Paseo, Lamas Carvajal or Santo Domingo. Besides, you can also find shops specialized in artisan and historic products, gourmet and handcrafts, where Colon street, also know as "Artisans' street" stands out.

The city, which is surrounded by mountains on all sides has a microclimate which brings plentiful rainfall and allows verdant landscapes. Winters are mild, with temperatures rarely falling below zero degrees Celsius and summers can be quite hot, almost equalling the temperatures of the south of Spain.
Ourense has an efficient public transportation network which makes travelling a comfortable experience. You can use the urban and interurban bus, the train or taxi, all of them with a comfortable and complete schedule for the users.
