Phaya Thai is a district in central Bangkok. A large part of the district in the east side is occupied by Royal Thai Army, the army of Thailand. The are responsible for protecting the sovereignty. The army was formed in 1874. This district harbours other government offices such as the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Natural Resources. The area around Saphan Khwai is well-known, thanks to numerous shops and apartments.
Thai Philatelic Museum has recently been renovated and it exhibits awards that Thai philatelists received from various international competitions together with photocopies of the winning entries, Thai stamps. Wat Phai Tan is the only Buddhist temple in the district.
