Boston, is the capital city of Massachusetts and is one of America's oldest cities. The city was founded in 1630 by Enlish Puritan colonists and its first name was Shawmut. From its founding, Boston has always been one of America's walthiest and most influencal city especially thanks to its harbor which is one of the busiest harbors in Massachusetts Bay Colony. This beautiful city has been the scene of several key events of American Revolution, the outstanding one is the well known Boston Tea Party in 1773 when some American colonists, in favour of America indipendence, threw 45 tons of tea into the harbor. Nowadays Boston is the region's hub and is home to over 617.000 residents. This capital is the bithplace of many wellknown people such as Benjamin Franklin, Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allan Poe and Uma Thurman. Boston is also known for its being "the first" in some important events in American history such as has created the first State Consitution in 1780 and has estabilished the first anti-smoking law in 1632. Boston is also well known for its being an international center of high education, with 50 universities and colleges and 134 public schools, this city is a student magnet. "The walking city", is the way Boston in called, so, if you want to visit it, take your time and walk through the city discovering all of its must-see sights such as Boston Public Garden, the Museum of Fine Art or the Freedom Trail.

There are also beautiful shopping districts like Downtown Crossing and Newbury Street where you can walk and at the same time admire the city and the shop windows.
Boston is a city surrounded by history, art nature and culture. Tha major actractions are the Boston Public Garden, which is the nation's oldest botanic garden; the Quincy Market, an indoor-outdoor market where you can go for shopping or dining and the Boston Harbor Islands where you can spend your time camping under the stars or exploring the ruins of an old fort.
For the one who love animals and for families there is the New England Acquarium where you find yourself immersed in a water world.

Public transportation is managed by MBTA, Massachussetts Bay Transportation Authority. The MBTA encompasses the Subway (red, orange, blue and silver line) which begins running every morning between 5:00 and 5:30 am and stops at night at 1:00 am; City Buses and the Silver Line, another bus route, very important for turists because it is a direct line from South Station to Logan Airport.
Lastly the Commuter Rail which runs into and out of Boston.
