Welcome to Sydney – The City of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge

Sydney is the biggest and most populous city in Australia and is situated on the South-East coast of Australia. It was found in 1788 by the first fleets that were coming from England. The streets are clean, the parks are sublime and the water is blue. Sydney's Opera House has since 2007 been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This city is also well-known for its beaches with beautiful coral reefs. As tourists you should visit the Sydney’s Harbour, The Habour Bridge, museums (like Powerhouse Museum, which is the largest and popular museum) and the Taronga Zoo. You can also visit for the events like Sydney Festival or Mardis Gras.

Night-life
During the nights, there are a lot of pubs, jazz bars and nightclubs. Lord Nelson bar or the Mercantile pubs of The Rocks are famous and worth a visit. For nightclubs Home, Tank and Cave are recommended.
Shopping
The department stores are mostly located in the city centre and travellers can find international brands as well as local brands. Grain Bros is one of the biggest department store (eight flours) where other good palces for shopping are MLC Centre or Piccadilly.
Sightseeing
Darling Harbour is a commercial district, where you can find plenty of shops, museums etc. The must-to-see in this district is the Sydney Aquarium (More than 5.000 Australian fish) and the Imax Theatre which has the largest cinema screen. There is also the Chinese Garden, where four elements are mixed (water, plants, stone and architecture). You should also pay The Rocks a visit, an old village, situated at the southern end of the Sydney Harbour Bridge with small nice restaurants and craft shops.

You can visit Sydney all year around. From November to March, which is the summer period, the average temperature is 35°C and during the winter the tempature is approximately 21-27 °C. Summer are hot and winter can be warm and wet.
Public transport
There are different types of transport in Sydney. The cheapest way of transport is to take the buses but this can take long time because of traffic jams. The fastest way of transport is underground, however not all tourists areas are available by underground, sometimes you will need to take a ferry.
