Welcome to Namur - The city of Wallonia’s heart.
Namur is an important commercial and industrial centre, located on the Walloon industrial backbone, the Sambre and Meuse valley. It is one of the most important cities in the country and the capital of Wallonia. Moreover the city is approximately in the centre of Belgium and only at a short distance from Brussels, the capital. Just situated at the confluent between two rivers, the Samber and Meuse, the city is rich in history and cultural heritages, as it was a trading settlement in Celtic times. Some great events used to take place in the city and specifically at the Citadel of Namur. And still nowadays great event takes place in the city such as "the celebrations of Wallonia", a weekend well known in the all country. An interesting fact is that Namur is even home to famous artists, for example the actor Benoît Poelvoorde and actress Cécile de France. Moreover neighbouring village of Temploux, which is at 10 kilometres NorthWest to the city of Namur, which annually becomes the setting for one of the biggest and the most impressive secondhand market in Europe. It takes place in August and features over 1500 stalls of sellers from all over Europe.

Night-life
Namur has some night club like « Le Flagrant Delire » or « Le Caprice d’ambiance » to drink some cocktails. But by night the best thing to do is going to the citadel where there is a great view of all the light of the city. But there are also a lot of good restaurants and snacks for any budget. The city has also a commercial centre situated on the south where there is a cinema.

The centre of the city is full of shops where there are some well known brands. And moreover Namur keeps its heart for pedestrian.

Namur Citadel
Also known as the Castle of Namur, the fortress Namur Citadel is a must see tourist attraction for travellers, who want to explore Wallonia’s capital and go on a sight-seeing tour.
St Aubin’s Cathedral
This catedral is a religous refuge and a historical spot, the St. Aubin’s Cathedral should be one of the top destinations by visitng the beautiful and ancient city of Namur in Belgium. Additionally, the cathedral, which dates back to the 18th century, is the only church remaining in academic Late Baroque style. The interior is kept almost colourless but still it is a very stunning style thanks to the floral ornaments and its enrichment by bas-reliefs.
Chateau d’Annevoie
On the left bank of the Meuse, there lies the paradise for nature-loving travellers. Besides the fact that the Castle of Annevoie is worth-visiting, since its furnishings date back to ancient time, people will have the opportunity to enter the stylish and beautiful Annevoie Gardens.
The Royal Theatre of Namur
Every year hundred of shows takes place in the Royal Theatre of Namur which dating from 1868.

Public transportation
