Sheffield is one of the ten biggest cities in England. It is located in South Yorshire. Its names derives from the River Sheaf, which runs through the city. Sheffield became well-known during the 19th century with the Industrial Revolution. Sheffield acquired the Status of "City" in 1893.
With more than two millions trees, Sheffield has the highest ratio of trees to people of any city in Europe. It could be considered as one of the greenest city in Europe. Furhermore, Sheffield is the first city it has created a professionnal football club.
There are two universities that exist in Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University and The University of Sheffield.

Night-Life
Sheffield overflows with an array of pubs and bars to eat and drink in. The city's nightlife also includes various theatres and nightclubs such as Plug, The Leadmill or DQ. Furthermore, there are many varied free festivals, fetes and running throughout the year.
Shopping
For you're shopping, you will find it all in the city centre. Sheffield city centre is split over three local sections - Fargate, Orchard Square and The Moor. All within a few minutes walk of each other.
Sightseeing
You must visit the Peak District and enjoy one of the most extraordinary untouched natural areas in the world. The site on which the Cathedral is built has a long history having first been used more than 1000 years. When we speak about Sheffield, we have to think its the Real Home of Football. Indeed, the first club in the history of football is the "Sheffield Football Club" established in 1857. A little anecdote: in 1857, there were no opponents, so they needed to play amongst us.

Climate
Sheffield is characterized by a temperate climate with soft and rainy winters and fresh(cool) and relatively wet summers. July and August are the ideal months to visit the city. January is the coldest month, with top temperatures average 3°C, while August is the hottest, with an average of 15°C.
Public transport
Sheffield has developed an excellent transport network, which includes coaches, buses, trains, tram lines and canals. There is also an international airport.
