Amboise is situated on the Southern bank of the Loire river in the Centre region, in the middle of France. Its nearest big city is Tours. The city is well known for its castles and more especially the Amboise castle where several kings of France used to live. It was also the place where Leonard de Vinci lived his last days. This famous historical figure appeals a lot of tourists as there is a museum dedicated to him in the Clos Lucé.

The Clock Tower, in the centre of the city, built at the top of an old door of the city. It was later turned into a belfry.
The Clos Lucé Mansion, the place where Leonard de Vinci spent his last 3 years. There, you can visit the house which has now been turned into a museum and also the park where some of his inventions are exposed.
The Pagode de Chanteloup, this monument close to the forest gives people a great view of the Loire Valley.
St Florentin’s Church, next to the Amboise Castle and the Loire river, is in the heart of the historical district. This neogothic monument is one of the few churches still under construction by now.

Amboise has a well-developed transport system with a large variety of services. First, the city is crossed by the Eurovelo6 which is a bicycle road that crosses Europe from West to East. It enables to get to neighbour cities easily. Then, there is the TER which links several big cities of the region. Finally, the buses can take you anywhere in Amboise so that you can sightsee round the city.
