  Welcome to Echevannes

  Tuesday, July 26, 2016

Echevannes is a commune in the Doubs department in the Franche-Comte region in easter France, at an altitude of over 600 m. As you can see, the countryside is a combination of green fields and rolling hills, it is an ideal place for recharging one's batteries. Echevannes was build after the abandonment and ruin of Chatelneuf-de-Vuillafans at the end of the 16th century. In fact, all townspeople decided to rebuild their hometowns on this site, the village has recovered his population, and the oven and the chapel has been transferred.

Its small parish chapel, which dates from the 15th century is a wonderful excuse to take a breathe of fresh air in the highest part of the village. We can find also, in front of the Saint Hippolyte church, the war memorial of three towns (Dunes, Lavans-Vuillafans, Voires). In addition, if you would like to explore the surroundings, there are lot of castle called Pertusier castle, castle of the Roche or Pecauld castle and a beautiful natural site which is great for outdoor activities. If you prefer being inside, you can visit three pleasant caves in Chaux-les-Passavant, Roset-Fluans or Planches-pres-Arbois.

Every year, take place for the French hill climb, the uphill from Vuillafans-Echevannes.

Standard time zone UTC/GMT +1 hour

Echevannes is strongly influenced by a oceanic climate. Yearly temperatures range from 20 degrees Celsius highs in summer to 0 degree lows in winter.

Next to this beautiful campaign we find various transport modes. The nearest train station is situated at Etalans (10 Km) and the nearest airport at Dole-Jura (61 KM). For the rest, it is clear that walking is the best way to move.
