Welcome to Toulon – The city of French naval base

Toulon is a city located in the south of France, which means that in summer it is really hot and in winter not too cold. It is one of the largest city in France and it is well-known for naval construction, fishing, grapevines and aeronautical equipment. It has a lot of history because it was the major naval centre on France's Mediterranean coast. People love this city for its good atmosphere and for the climate.
Sightseeing
Toulon city can be divided into two parts. Indeed there are the “Old City” also called the historic centre and the “High City”. One of the famous places in the “Old City” is the ancient harbour where it is possible to have a nice walk, to buy some souvenirs, drink coffee and eat in a fish restaurant. “Place Puget” represents the old centre of the town. “Cathedral Notre-Dame-de-la-Seds”, “Tour de l'horloge” and “L'église de Saint Francois de Paule” are famous places to visit. In the “High City” are two famous places: the Liberty plaza and the Opera of Toulon. If you want to relax, there are two beautiful parks: Alexandre I Garden and Frederic Mistral Garden. For people who want to visit museums, they will not be disappointed as there are five well-known museums in Toulon.
Shopping
In the town Centre Mayol are famous brands like New Look, Zara, FNAC, Pimkie and Sephora. But if you want to shop in a mall, you should go to the “Grand Var” shopping centre. It has around twenty shops and restaurants and it can be reached easily by bus.
Night-life
There are a lot of restaurants, bars, and nightclubs in Toulon where it is possible to have fun. If you want to watch films go to “Cinema Le Royal” or “Cinema Pathe Liberté”.

Toulon has a Mediterranean climate: hot summer and mild winter. In summer, the temperature can reach 30 degrees and in winter 8 degrees. The average temperature in Toulon is 15 degrees. The coldest month is January and July is the driest one.

There are a lot of ways to reach this city: plane, car, bus, train and boat. It is possible to discover it with the metropolitan bus and the ferry network which operate by “Mistral network”. This network serves twelve communes of the Toulon area.
