Welcome to Holzminden - A town known for its beautiful landscapes thanks to the Weserbergland mountains, the Scent and Flavours industry and its Luther Church.
Holzminden is 355 kilometres away from Berlin and 86 kilometres away from Hanover. It is located in the middle of the Weserbergland mountains and is divided by the Weser river. This town supplies an easy access to walk and ride in the Solling-Vogler Nature Park.
Holzmiden built 9th century. You can see many types of architecture thanks to the houses built during the 17th century. The perfume manufacturing has really developed in this region that's why you can smell a lot of pleasant scents in this area.It is a melting pot of smells due to the odorous molecules that are emitted in the air.
The watercourse which crosses the city is an important source of drinking water for the local population. Bubbly water is more common than still water in Germany.
The church that was built during the 13th century used to be a Roman Catholic Church known as Maria Church before turning into a Protestant one in 1577.
Every year, Holzminden hosts a lot of events such as the “Oktoberfest”, the International Street Theatre Festival and the “Weihnachtsmarkt”.

Sightseeing
A walk along the river is really pleasant when the weather is good : you can take the Weser Cycle Path from Holzminden to Hoxter. You can do it by riding a bike or walking. This destination will allow you to enjoy the beautiful landscape with its fauna and flora and you will also be able to smell a lot of scents in the air. For movie lovers, you can go to the cinema and for the romantics, you will have the possibility to cruise on the Weser river.

Weather
From December to March we can see the snow in the meadow. The Weserbergland mountains being close to Holzminden, you can go skiing .The flowers open in April thanks to the heat.

The climate is mild, temperate and warm following seasons. The average annual temperature is 9.1 degrees Celsius. A significant amount of rainfall is measured in this city over the year. July is the hottest month of the year with an average temperature of about 17.3 degrees Celsius. The coldest month of the year is January with an average temperature of about 0.4 degrees Celsius.
Public transport
Most of the people use the bike to move through the city, there are access equipped to ride a bike. You can take a car or a bus but the buses are few due to the fact that the town is small.
There is a train station. If you come from another country by plane, you have to go to Hanover then take a train to Holzminden or go there by taking a cab.
