Aosta
Welcome to Aosta, Italy – Tre city of the mountains.
Located in the North of Italy, the city of Aosta has a population of 34,500 town resident.
The city was founded by the Romans in the 25 A.C with the name Augusta Praetorium Salassorum, a legend tells that was destroyed by Saracens and Barbarian.
In reality the roman city suffered damages during the reconstruction in the Middle Age when the ancient block of stones were used to built churches and towers.
Aosta is at the same time the capital of region and the province (Aosta Valley).
Famous for its mountains where, during the winter season, it is possible practice skiing Alpine and, during the summer, nice walk is an ideal place where spend the holiday.
In the city it is possible to see some of the ancient towers, builted in Roman Age, of the twenty originals towers: Leper’s Tower, Tower of Bramafan, Tower of Fromage, Tower of Baillage.

In the centre of the city is possible find many shops and during the year there are many fairs like the Sant`Orso`s Fair (in Genuary, during this fair the viewer can attend to performances of street artists, in the night also) and the Summer Fair (in August) where the local artisan sell their products handmade.

The penultimate sunday of October in the Croix-Noire theatre there is the Combat Final, historic performance and during all the summer there is the festival of popular music.
Sightseeing
Like all Roman city, Aosta preserve many documents of its past: Roman Theatre, Arch of August, The Cathedral, the Roman Bridge, Roman Villa of Consolation.
The city offer at the tourist the possibility to visit its Archeologic Regional Museum where are exposed many testimonials about the presence of population on the territory, from Prehistory until the Middle Age: during the visit at the room of the museum it is possible to use multimedia.

Climate:
During the summer the climate is sunny and hot but with storms (moistly in July), the most hot month is July (+21,5 C).
The winter is cold with snow, ideally for skiing.
How to arrive:
It`s possible use the train with the italian company Trenitalia, there are two railway: from Aosta to Pres-Saint-Didier and another from Aosta to Chivasso and Torino Porta Nuova.
There is also an airport but actually is not used.
