Welcome to Catania - The Baroque City on the slopes of Etna.
Catania is one of the most beautiful city in the south of Italy, located in Eastern Sicily. It offers different kinds of landscapes, from sea, in particular the Mediterranean sea, to mountains, the Vulcano Etna, the largest active Volcano in Europe. The City is well known also for its history, many cultures that have left their mark, and today are recognised from Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque monuments. The history of the city is full of dominations, as romans, arabs and normans, but the real history was written by the Vulcano Etna in 1669, that destroyed Catania, that was rebuilt in baroque style, today recognized as a charactheristic feature of the city.

Catania is the city that never sleep, it is known like "Catania di giorno" (in the morning) and "Catania di notte" (in the night), so every day during the week the night life is always present, with many pubs, restaurants, discos, and squares goen often to youngs, students and tourists.

In Catania is also known for its main street "Via Etnea" located in the historical center, that offers many shops opened from 9 am to 21 pm. There are also many malls far from the centre, that you can reach by public transport.
Sightseeing
Catania is a city full of History, rich of monuments that attest it. In particular, in the city center there are a lot of churches, the most important is "Il Duomo", and also you can find many baroque palaces and buildings. Catania attracts tourists for its sandy and rocky beaches, located along the coast, and for its imposing Volcano.
